Machine Control

Construction-ready models, machine guidance and controlled field data.

Machine control connects approved digital design directly with construction plant, allowing operators to work from three-dimensional surfaces, alignments and design models in the field.

2Spatial prepares, checks and manages machine-control data for civil construction projects. We use 12d Model as one of our core software platforms to create, review and validate construction models before exporting them into the formats required by machine-guidance systems.

This can include terrain models, TINs, strings, alignments, road formations, excavation surfaces, grading models and other construction-ready data. Models can be updated and re-issued as approved design revisions occur.

Our workflow includes checking source design information, validating model geometry and maintaining revision control before files are issued to the field. This helps reduce the risk of plant operating from incorrect or superseded information.

Machine-control data can also be coordinated with conventional survey workflows so that control, machine models, set-out, verification and final conformance all reference the same controlled project information.

Our Capability

  • Machine-control model preparation
  • DTM and TIN surface preparation
  • 12d Model construction data
  • Machine-guidance files and surfaces
  • Road formation and earthworks models
  • Excavation and grading surfaces
  • String and alignment preparation
  • Design revision updates and controlled re-issues
  • Model validation and QA
  • Trimble, Topcon and other machine-guidance workflows where required
  • Integration with survey set-out, verification and conformance

Why it matters to the project?

Well-controlled machine data gives construction plant a direct and reliable link to the approved design. It reduces manual interpretation, limits the risk of rework and helps maintain consistency between design, field survey, machine guidance and final conformance.
